Phase 2 of Physical Development, any increase through adding repetitions should stay within the right workout zones as per the player’s targets or focus. With that in mind we look to variation to add difficulty and keep the physical progress on track.

As long as the player’s foundational work is correct, the variation can be built into their programs, developing on to resistance and weight assisted exercises.

Players are reminded that adjustments to their exercises means adjustments to their diets.

Many times in cycles or phases of the season, players will not get the opportunity to reach 2 or 3 phases of physical development. The players at GOM FOOTBALL are taking advantage of the opportunity to come back to the pitch FITTER, FASTER & STRONGER!

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

The GOM FOOTBALL Goalkeeping program has always had the support of GK PRO, the professional choice when it comes to goalkeeping. Through their guidance and the efforts of Coach Hondo Ortiz, we are able to have specialized Online Sessions set aside for our goalkeepers.

One session takes the form of a Theory, taking from Fundamentals to Tactical.

The other session is a practical session, that is designed as a tutorial into how goalkeepers can improve supplementary routines.

We hope to work together with GK PRO to continue the rich pedigree of goalkeeping at GOM FOOTBALL.

Social Wellness should be a driving force in all youth programs. Safeguarding the children from abuse and negative influences is a concern of GOM FOOTBALL.

Engaging in safe online practices is also covered by our SOCIAL WELLNESS DEPARTMENT. We have a comprehensive set of guidelines which our staff are well trained in and available to the parents and guardians.

We also need to be educating the players to be aware of online dangers and curiosities given that they will be spending more time online.

COFFEE WITH COACH! Communication is an important part of development. The relationship or triangle of trust, that is built between the coach/program, the player and the parents/guardian, is a crucial factor in progressing a young player throughout the PERFORMANCE PATHWAY.

This will be one of many open forums with the parents and guardians throughout the use of our Online Platform.

Understanding the ACTION and what it is you are trying to achieve is important.

The GOM SPORTS SCIENCE DEPARTMENT was the first of its kind set up for youth development in the Philippines. With the opportunity to impart knowledge through our OFF PITCH SUPPORT and ONLINE PLATFORM we hope that educated players will make better decisions with their supplementary programs and help continue their physical development during these times.

We are always happy to see our SPORT SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, headed by Coach Rajeev Panemanglor MSc, helping players develop physically and safely! Correct fundamental movement preparations help with injury prevention but so does understanding what we do and why we do it!

UNDERSTANDING THE ACTION

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Nutrition is important, players need to first have an understanding of what their body needs and why, after that, they will need to learn how to make adjustments depending on their type of exercise and time of exercise.

While we educate our players in Nutrition in our Online Platform through Ms. Nina Ordillo Rnd and the GOM SPORTS SCIENCE DEPARTMENT, we promote the importance and benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

The launch of the GOM FOOTBALL ONLINE PLATFORM brings our OFF Pitch Support to its players in a whole new dimension.

We will be integrating an education in Nutrition and Sport Science to complement the MID PRE SEASON PROGRAMS that the players are doing as supplementary training.

The Online Platform also includes tactical sessions, values and social wellness.

Then players are in the routine of this process and using the intensity tracking system set and operated by the work from home staff. We will be using Online Tutorials for foundational and form work plus Online Intensity screening to keep track of the players’ progress.

KEEP SAFE, STAY HEALTHY

GOM FOOTBALL will be making their official statement on this situation soon.

Until then we will issue training programs to all the players and express the importance of following all health protocols and procedures. Should we need to activate online seminars and tactical sessions to continue our interaction with the players and their development/learning we will.

COVID - 19

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

It is always good to have termly assessments and testing during preseason training. This means the Coaching staff and Sports Science Department are working together to track and assess players, it also gives feedback which helps the players identify areas to improve and give them confidence on the areas that they are doing well in.

In our push to reach International Academy standards GOM FOOTBALL now has monthly training statistics which are a compilation of statistics taken every training session. This process is giving players more chance to reflect on their performances.

We are now building biometrics into the monthly training statistics as we encourage a healthy and balanced life style to promote excellence both on and off the pitch.

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Players at GOM FOOTBALL train to reach their full potential. We encourage all players who dream of playing at University level to push hard as University football becomes ever more competitive and coaches will be looking at players to realistically give them the chance of progressing their programs.

We keep our options open and train to International Academy standards so players have the chance to apply their talents even at Universities abroad.

Our 2001/02 captain Sky Guerrero is the first player straight out of the Center of Excellence into UAAP football. A veteran in the UAAP Jrs and capped internationally he will be looking to make an impact in his rookie year and set an example to the other players in the GOM FOOTBALL set up.

So far the transition from OFF SEASON into PRE SEASON has been smooth. Our work with our SPORTS SCIENCE team has been paying off and the injury prevention has helped keep the players stay active and train at a competitive to high tempo.

Looking to future games and tours, the program looks to see if it has maintained its performance targets in fitness as in previous years during its next set of testing in the first week of training in March.

For tactical development we have arranged games in controlled environments. These games help improve squad chemistry ready for the season but also the coaches will set and communicate the objectives for each arranged game individually.

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE AT 4 YEARS

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Modern players, a modern game needs as modern approach to PRE SEASON.

PRE SEASON is not about 'running', the MINDSET of pre season sets the foundation for the players to build on. The aerobic push comes from a strong mindset. At GOM FOOTBALL we have very well planned pre season programs which we always start when the mindset is right. When the playing philosophy is decided and the key focuses and objectives of the season are set then we know what mindset we need to achieve. The rest comes naturally.

Players will know the effectiveness of their training ethics  from the pre, during and post TESTING.

Monday 3rd February 2020

PRE SEASON

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

Testing is an important part of the program, it gives the players and coaches the opportunity to gauge and plan development. The testing has been improved from 2019 with the inclusion of 5 new tests which will be introduced throughout the year, currently we are testing the following:

30 Meter Sprint

30 Meter Sprint with Ball (NEW)

Agility

Agility with Ball

Push Ups (NEW)

Fitness Test

These results are for the players individual development, however we do use collective results for comparison and program adjustments.

We encourage players to give 100 percent during testing days as these results are included in their termly assessments.

Monday 27th January 2020

TIME FOR TESTING

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

The progression of a players career takes time, being able to visualise a pathway is important to give players focus. That is exactly what the GOM FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM gives us, players in the CENTER OF EXCELLENCE aspire to be invited to the invitation only first team program which gives the players purpose to push hard and maintain standards in training.

When players are in the first team they are given advanced tactical training from experienced coaches who have coached at top clubs and handled some of the best players in Asia. This helps players through their youth professional development.

The ambition and goals of the GOM FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM are clear, we look forward to bringing you more updates in their progress preparing for Europe!

Learning from past experiences we have also conducted 4 specialised Off Season Training Seasons to monitor and teach the 2 week Off Season Program.

We hope that these efforts off the pitch will reflect in the squads being able to go straight into Pre Season Training.

We are grateful for the support of our sponsors that have enabled us to fully equip our players with all the equipment needed for a successful off season and pre season program.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

As the year comes to an end we reflect on what was a tremendous year of development. To see so many players reaching the next levels in their careers, domestically and internationally was the result of a well compiled program so we have to thank the coaches, staff, specialists and consultants for their dedication. We also would like to acknowledge the support of the parents and commitment of the players to their development.

A 2005/06 squad who although newly formed has shown the signs of a team to look out for in the future and already boasting international exposure.

The 2004 squad who is now home to 3 National Team players including the Captain has produce great performances in local competitions and scored against a Thai Premier League Academy.

The 2003 squad who has patiently played up all year knowing and understanding the importance of development. With players already with first team experience this squad is ready for the challenges of 2020.

The 2002 squad who had 2 players turn professional this year and also excelled in small side competitions, many of who will be called into the first team for next years European Tour of Pro Clubs.

And the 2001 squad who had a talented group of boys called up into a successful U19 Philippine National Team Campaign. With 2 players signed to a professional club and one on the books on a professional club overseas the year certainly has seen the cumulative efforts of the players.

We look back not only at the development of players but the memories made along the way. Thank you 2019 for your learnings and blessing and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

SPONSORS HELP RAISE THE LEVEL OF GOM FOOTBALL

DARREN HARTMANN

DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL

The Singa Cup proved a huge success for the first international outing of our 2005/06 squad. Progressing out of the group was a fair reflection on the amount of extra preparation the players had put in.

The squad was lacking players through injury and the character of the squad and its new players was commendable.

We look forward to the learning from this exposure as the squad regathers in Manila to continue the rest of its training for the year and starts to build for 2020.
